Tampa Bay Lightning & Edmonton Oilers Tied 3-3 At 2nd Intermission
The Lightning opened the period trailing the Oilers 3-1 and without goalie Ben Bishop  who had to leave the game early in the first period with what has been described by the team as an upper body injury (appears to be a hand injury) and he will be evaluated further tomorrow in Winnipeg.
The Lightning were able to fight there way back by picking up the intensity and putting two goals past Oilers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov  to tie the game at 3-3 at the second intermission.
In his eighth game since returning from injury Hedman has now recorded two goals and five assists. Palat’s assist extends his streak of scoring a point to six consecutive games (two goals, five assists) which ties the longest NHL point streak by a rookie this season with Mark Scheifele  of the Winnipeg Jets.
The Bolts tied the game at the 14:25 mark when Valtteri Filppula  scored his eight goal of the year with assists to Matt Carle  (17). Over his last 10 games Filppula has six goals and seven assists.
When the Bolts are tied after 2 periods they have a record of 5-0-4 while the Oilers record is 2-3-3.
Shots On Goal:
The Lightning outshot the Oilers 14 to 8 in the second period but the Oilers lead overall 20-18.
The Tampa Bay Lighting penalty kill ranks 21st at 16.1% (23 goals in 143 attempts) while hte Oilers rank 20th at 17.1% (27 goals in 158 attempts).
Tampa Bay Lightning penalty kill unit rankst 12th at 82.9% (24 goals in 140 attempts) while the Oilers ranks 17th at 81.7% (28 goals in 153 attempts).
The Oilers went on the power play at the 15:56 mark when Eric Brewer  was sent off for 2-minutes for high sticking but the Oilers were unable to take advantage.
