Bolts and Habs on FOUR different TV networks tonight
Tonight things could be quite crowed as no fewer than four networks will be telecasting game one of the Montreal at Tampa Bays series. Sun Sports will handle the local broadcast, nationally it will be CNBC.
In Canada, it will be a national game on CBC with the English broadcast while in French it will be RDS.
The rest of round one will be the same with all four networks working together.
That is four networks, on the TV side and then we have three on the radio side for a total of seven different sets of broadcasters. On the TV side since their are only a few camera platforms the four networks will actually share some of the more than 25 cameras on hand for the broadcast.
This is far from new as each year this type of coverage is done in the NHL and so the broadcasters are all very comfortable in this crowded but very well coordinated TV event.
A quick note to local Bolts fans the Stanley Cup Playoffs will air on either, Sun Sports or Fox Sports Florida. Tonight’s game on at the Tampa Bay Times Forum is set for a 7 p.m. puck drop, then Friday’s game is on Fox Sports Florida. Game three is back on Sun Sports while Fox Sports Florida has game four of the first round series. Games five and six are on Sun Sports, while should there be a seventh game it would be on Fox Sports Florida.
Hopefully if the Bolts make it past round one, then for the rest of their quest for another Stanley Cup will have all of the games on the NBC Universal family of networks.
Nationally tonight’s Bolts-Habs game will be seen on CNBC.
NHL Live, hosted by Liam McHugh, Mike Milbury and Keith Jones, begins at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Russ Thaler, Jeremy Roenick and Anson Carter will host CNBC’s studio coverage.
Playoff coverage starts at 7 p.m. ET tonight on CNBC with Steven Stamkos and the (2) Tampa Bay Lightning hosting the (3) Montreal Canadiens in Game 1 of their first-round series. Jim Hughson, Craig Simpson, Glenn Healy and David Amber will have the call from the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Tampa, Fla.
First-round coverage on NBCSN begins at 7:30 p.m. ET, when the (4) Columbus Blue Jackets visit Sidney Crosby and the (1) Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 1. Emmy Award-winning play-by-play commentator Mike “Doc” Emrick and Emmy Award-winning ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Pierre McGuire will have the call from CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.
The first-round action continues on NBCSN at 10 p.m. ET, as Ryan Getzlaf and the (1) Anaheim Ducks host Tyler Seguin and the (4) Dallas Stars at 10 p.m. ET. John Walton (play-by-play) and Butch Goring (analyst) will call the action from the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
If tonight’s Blue Jackets-Penguins game on NBCSN runs past 10 p.m. ET into the start of Stars-Ducks, puck drop of Stars-Ducks will be shown live on NHL Network until Blue Jackets-Penguins has concluded. Stars-Ducks will return to NBCSN immediately following the conclusion of Blue Jackets-Penguins.
