Bolt Prospect of the Week: 10-2-12
For the second week in a row, the Tampa Bay Lightning Prospect of the Week isAndrei Vasilevski, a goaltender for Ufa Jr. in Russia's Minor Hockey League.
During this past judging period, ending October 2, the top overall prospect in the Lightning organization according to BoltProspects.com went 3-0 with a save percentage of .953 and a goals against average barely over one.
On Saturday he stopped 27 of 28 shots in a 4-1 win over Ekaterinburg Jr, then he followed that up the next night with a 3-2 shootout win over the same club. He stopped 29 of 31 shots in regulation in overtime, and both shooters he faced in the shootout. Two days later he stopped all but one of 26 shots, beating Astana Jr., 5-1.
As of Tuesday evening, Vasilevski had won 11 of 12 games (the only loss being a 1-0 setback), and 10 of those 11 wins came in regulation. He had a 1.53 GAA and .945 save percentage. He has one shutout on the year.
On Wednesday, Vasilevski had his first off game of the season, letting in four of 19 shots in a 4-3 loss to Astana Jr. Fortunately for him, it came outside of the judging period for the latest Prospect of the Week award. A third week in a row may not be in the cards, however.
The 63 Russian was the Lightnings second first round pick in the 2012 draft, taken 19th overall. He projects as a No.1 goaltender at the NHL level with all-star potential.
