Boise State Wants Blue Field All Their Own
College football fans know that Boise State is known for their trademark blue turf. Well, the school wants to keep it to themselves and when a high school in North Carolina asked for permission to turn their field blue, Boise State denied their request. For them, it is all about protecting the brand.
The Idaho Statesman claims that Boise State owns a trademark on any non-green playing field in the country. This means that any school or organization that wishes to install a “non-traditional playing field color” must get approval from Boise State before doing so.
The school has allowed some others to install football fields in different colors, but only one other college or university has a blue playing field. New Haven has a blue field only because they built it before Boise State gained the trademark.
