Bobby Bowden Praises Jameis Winston
Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has added his name to consideration for many of the top individual accolades in 2013, thanks to his (and the Seminoles') wildly impressive start to the season.
Much of the media focus for Saturday night's primetime showdown at Clemson has been on Winston and Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd. Both are Heisman Trophy hopefuls and arguably the two frontrunners for ACC Player of the Year at the season's midpoint.
But while we compare Winston to his peers on a weekly basis, legendary Florida State coach Bobby Bowden believes that the quarterback, who prefers "Jaboo" to "Famous Jameis," could end up being one of the best in Seminoles' history.
"This goes back to the best you've ever had -- that's the way I think people are looking at him," Bowden told ESPN.com's David Hale for a profile of Winston. "This young man is as good as anybody we've ever had. Maybe as a freshman, that's asking too much, but before he leaves here -- and he might do it this year."
