Big High School “Rivalry Week.’
It is week ten of the 2013 Florida High School football season and there are plenty of key match ups with ranked teams facing off starting on Friday night. St. Petersburg Lakewood Spartans (6-2) at Jacksonville Raines Vikings (6-2), is a one that many local fans will be watching. Two of the states most storied programs highlight a big interstate battle in Jacksonville.
A great cross town rivals will meet when Daytona Beach Mainland Buccaneers (7-1) faces Daytona Beach Seabreeze Sandcrabs (6-1) at Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium. Bragging rights are on the line and the winner likely will be headed to a playoff berth.
There is a good battle going on in Pasco county Friday night as Spring Hill Springstead Eagles (7-1) at Land O’ Lakes Gators (7-1). This game favors an impressive Land O’ Lakes team that has a history of winning the big game. Spring Hill is a worthy opponent and they are not to be overlooked. That said beating the Gators at home is always a big time chore.
More rivals face off when Lakeland Kathleen Red Devils (7-1) at Lakeland Dreadnaughts (9-0) play Friday night. This is one of Florida’s oldest and best rivalries. Lakeland is a powerhouse and you can bet that Kathleen would love to knock off their undefeated Dreadnaughts.
Tampa Bay Tech Titans (6-2) at Tampa Sickles Gryphons (7-1) this one is a great measuring stick these two talented teams. For Sickles this is a very important game as they want to stay in race a playoff spot with just a couple more weeks left in the season.
Lake Worth Park Vista Cobras (7-1) at Wellington Palm Beach Central Broncos (5-3). This one is huge for Lake Worth as they are considered a real district and state powerhouse. So losing to Wellington Palm Beach would be a huge blow to their playoffs hopes.
