Beckham Might Not Build Soccer in Miami Anymore
David Beckham announced months ago that he planned to buy a soccer franchise in Miami. The cost was supposed to be around $25 million and Beckham even revealed a plan to build a new stadium for the team.
Now, it seems his dreams are not going to happen. Well, at least not right away.
Beckham can’t seem to find a place to build his stadium.
His main problem is that he wants public land from Miami-Dade County but the county isn’t interested in helping him out.
According to the SunSentinel, Beckham first wanted a site that was just east of Downtown Miami since the setting was a beautiful waterfront site. But, there was negative feedback from cruise lines and other companies there.
Miami-Dade county is trying to work with him, though. They offered him land near Marlins Park which is just a few miles outside of Downtown Miami. But, Beckham doesn’t like it.
Are you over this yet? Beckham now is considering land that is north of Miami in Broward County.
It doesn’t quite seem like Miami wants to bend it like Beckham even if his team brings tons of money to their city.Beckham Might Not Build Soccer in Miami Anymore by Sports Talk Florida
