Baseball America Ranks Canes No. 14


CORAL GABLES, Fla. The Miami Hurricanes rose to No. 14 inBaseball Americas weekly top 25 poll Monday, marking the teams highest position in the poll since April 2012.

The Hurricanes were ranked No. 16in Baseball Americas last poll released on Feb. 17.

With wins on Friday and Saturday night, Miami clinched its series against rival No. 25 Florida (5-3) at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. Powered by six home runs from its offense over the weekend, Miami won the annual marquee series for the first time since 2009.

Miami connected on six homers in a series for the first time since a trip to Virginia Tech in April 2010. The teams seven home runs through its first seven games of the season rank tops in the ACC.

Miami also moved up five spots inPerfect Games weekly top 25 poll released Monday, jumping from No. 20 to No. 15 as one of the highest risers of the week. Despite capturing its series with Florida, Miami dropped from No. 11 to No. 17 in the weeklyCollegiate Baseball Newspaperpoll.
