CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Miami Hurricanes rose to No. 14 in Baseball America’s weekly top 25 poll Monday, marking the team’s highest position in the poll since April 2012.

The Hurricanes were ranked No. 16 in Baseball America’s last poll released on Feb. 17.

With wins on Friday and Saturday night, Miami clinched its series against rival No. 25 Florida (5-3) at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. Powered by six home runs from its offense over the weekend, Miami won the annual marquee series for the first time since 2009.

Miami connected on six homers in a series for the first time since a trip to Virginia Tech in April 2010. The team’s seven home runs through its first seven games of the season rank tops in the ACC.

Miami also moved up five spots in Perfect Game’s weekly top 25 poll released Monday, jumping from No. 20 to No. 15 as one of the highest risers of the week. Despite capturing its series with Florida, Miami dropped from No. 11 to No. 17 in the weekly Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll.
