Recap: B.J. Upton Collects 1,000th Career Hit
Braves outfielder B.J. Upton reached a significant milestone on Saturday night, notching the 1,000th hit of his 10-year MLB career.
Upton collected the base hit in the first inning — an infield single on an up-the-middle ball that deflected off the glove of Reds pitcher Mike Leake.
The 29-year-old Upton was a teenager when he earned his first major league hit on Aug. 2, 2004 — which also served as his MLB debut and collected the first 910 hits of his career as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays.
