Arron Afflalo Out With Strained Right Foot
Orlando Magic’s leading scorer, Arron Afflalo will not play against his former team the Denver Nuggets because of a strained his right foot. He suffered the injury in the third quarter against the Sacramento Kings on Friday night.
Magic’s head coach Jacque Vaughn will only have 10 players available as his team takes on the Denver Nuggets (18-17).
Maurice Harkless will step in the starting line up in place of Afflalo. The young 20-year-old will have big shoes to fill as Afflalo leads the Magic with 20.8 points per game. Harkless has played well during the Magic’s five game road trip. He scored a season high of 22 points during the Magic’s 101-81 loss to the L.A. Clippers Monday night.
Afflalo’s injury is just one of Vaughn’s problems. He is also without the Magic’s top rebounder and double-double machine Nikola Vucevic. Vucevic is currently dealing with his second concussion in the last 11 months.
The 7-foot center took a nasty fall after rolling off Blake Griffin’s back and landing on his head and hip during the third quarter against the L.A. Clippers Monday night. He walked off on his own power but was later diagnosed with a concussion. Vucevic was sent home to Orlando and will be held out of all activity until he is symptom free and has successfully completed the NBA concussion return-to-participate exertion protocol.
The Magic are also without reserve guard Ronnie Price. He did not travel with the team on the five game road trip because of a sinus condition.
