AP Poll Opens with Gators Ranked 10th

Florida_Gators_logo_2012The Associated Press College Football Preseason Poll was released on Saturday, the first of the season.

Unsurprisingly, the Alabama Crimson Tide opened up the rankings on top, with 58 first-place votes. No. 2 Ohio State and No. 5 Georgia each received a first-place vote.

No other team did.

No. 3 Oregon and No. 4 Stanford round out the top five.

Students returning to Gainesville were excited to find that their football team will be opening the year in the top ten. Even better, Florida clocked in just ahead of their archrivals, No. 11 Florida State.

The embers of the cross-state rivalry are starting to heat back up, and with each team clinging to slight national championship aspirations, the November 30 meeting in the Swamp should be a much anticipated one.
