Anthony Collins: There’s a Lot of ‘Thump’ to Bucs Defense

Tampa Bay Buccaneers left tackle Anthony Collins is embarking on a big year. After sliding into a starting role with the Bengals last season due to an injury suffered by Pro Bowler Andrew Whitworth, Collins performed remarkably well, not giving up a sack in 15 games, including seven starts. It’s why the Bucs signed Collins to a five-year deal worth $30 million this offseason.

Sports Talk Florida Bucs Insider Jenna Laine caught up with Collins after practice Sunday to find out how he’s handling the hype that comes with being a top-rated free agent, as well as how he’s enjoying his time in Tampa Bay. Here, he talks about facing off againstĀ  defensive end Michael Johnson every day, something he did for six years in Cincinnati, and how facing the Bucs defense in practice compares to facing Marvin Lewis’ Bengals.

“There’s a lot of speed on this defense, a lot of speed, a lot of thump running downhill,” Collins said. “I feel real great about our defense. And [same] with our offense. Josh is running the ship and we’re gonna play like we know how to play.”
