When Andy Reid took over the Chiefs this past offseason, there was a large, noticable, glaring hole at quarterback. Reid didn’t mess around when it came to filling that hole, handing the 49ers a pair of second-round picks for Alex Smith in a stunning offseason trade.
Turns out this past summer wasn’t the first time Reid made an an attempt to land Smith from the 49ers (although it was, obviously, the first successful attempt). He acknowledged to the New York Times, in a piece that ran Sunday, that he tried “multiple” times to trade for Smith while he was with the Eagles.
