Alex Cobb To Miss Start, Alex Colome To Make ML Debut Thursday

After the Rays 3-1 victory over the Miami Marlins  Joe Maddon announced that Alex Cobb will not be making his scheduled start tomorrow as he is battling a minor finger nail issue.

Taking Cobb’s start will be Alex Colome  making his big league debt. On the season he is 4-5 with a 2.60 ERA with 61 strike outs against 22 walks in 55.1 innings of work. He last pitched on Friday against the New York Yankees Triple A affiliate Scranton Wilkes-Barre Rail Riders going 5 innings allowing 2R/oER on 5 hits in a 5-1 Bulls victory.

Matt Moore will start the opener in Cleveland and the decision as to whether or not to start Cobb Saturday or just hold him back until Detroit has not been determined.

Be prepared for some electric stuff from the 24 year old Colome who has an above average fastball that can hit 97 mph and he’ll mix in a cutter, curve ball, and slider. His fastball has a lot of sink to it that should produce a lot of ground balls.
