Alabama’s win over Texas A&M a ratings monster
CBS Sports has to be pleased with the wild No. 1, Alabama 49 – 42 over No. 6, Texas A&M was the highest rated regular season college football game in over 23 years. The game brought in a 9.0 rating with a 21 share which was the best rating since 1990 when Miami faced Notre Dame, which had 10.1 rating.
Clearly, Alabama was could not slow down Johnny Manziel, and they beat Texas A&M the only way it could: The top-ranked Crimson Tide just kept on scoring, hoping to have the ball last. When AJ McCarron took a knee to end it, Alabama was finally safe. There was nothing more Manziel could do.
The great game was worthy of the ratings and the only thing that would have made this better was if it were aired on CBS Saturday night instead of airing in the afternoon.
