Al Golden Says It’s ‘Humbling and Flattering’ To Be Persued
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Miami coach Al Golden says it’s “humbling and flattering” to be considered by other schools, though reaffirmed Monday that he is still committed to the Hurricanes.
Golden refused to confirm that he was contacted as part of Penn State’s search for a new coach, saying he does not talk about other programs. He played under Joe Paterno for the Nittany Lions and served as a team captain.
Speculation began growing late last week that Golden was a top candidate to replace Bill O’Brien at Penn State. Golden released a statement Sunday saying he was not a candidate at any other school.
He’s 22-15 in three seasons at Miami.
