ABC 9 p.m. NBA Finals: Miami must beat the Spurs

[1]Tonight 7:30 p.m. pregame show on NBA TV and the main event will be 9 p.m. ABC. It is the NBA Finals, the Spurs head to Miami up 3-2 as we get ready for game 6.

A must win game 6 and LeBron James has been here before and the ending was not a very happy one for Heat fans.

Think back a couple of years ago, the end of the first season of “Big Three” basketball in Miami of James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. The situation: Miami Heat down 3-2, hosting Game 6 of the NBA Finals, only two home wins separating it from what would have been James’ first title.

Anyone recall how that turned out? Not well!!!

Dallas came out of the blocks and took it to Miami big time. James had six turnovers in Game 6, the Heat was outscored by 24 with him on the floor playing. We know by now that the Dallas Mavericks went on to become the  NBA champions.

So tonight another Texas team that has Miami in the  same situation. Down 3-2 again, and back at home for Game 6 of the Finals. It is simple, Miami needs two wins in three days or else it will be watching someone else take the NBA Championship.

Here are some quick pregame quotes from NBA.com in cased you missed them.

“We’re going to see if we’re a better team than we were our first year together,” James said.

As for those of us covering the game we are about to see is how much James and his teammates have grown since that 2011 season.

There is no doubt that James has more at stake than any other Heat player in this series. If the Heat loses, it’ll be widely perceived as James’ failure. If the Heat wins, his status as the game’s best player not only becomes even more cemented, but he might even win over a few more doubters.

The Spurs might be the best top-to-bottom team the Heat has faced in these three seasons of playoff runs. They have the mastermind coach in Gregg Popovich, the veteran core of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, and the supporting cast like Danny Green (with a Finals-record 25 3-pointers and counting) and Gary Neal (12 3-pointers in the series, second-most behind Green).

Here is a video preview of tonight’s big game 6 from NBA.com. [2]
