Hernandez Due Back in Court Today
Ex-Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is due back in court today for a bail review hearing after being charged with the murder of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd.
A spokesperson for the Bristol County sheriff told ESPN Boston that the review hearing will take place in Fall River Thursday afternoon at 2:00. Yesterday a judge ordered Hernandez be held without bail.
He faces five other gun-related charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of a large capacity firearm, and two counts of possession of a firearm without an ID card.
Hernandez was taken from his home and into police custody yesterday morning. He was released by the Patriots less than two hours later.
Authorities don’t believe Hernandez acted alone. New Britain State’s Attorney Brian Preleski told the Associated Press that 27-year-old Carlos Ortiz was arrested yesterday in connection with the murder investigation. He is being held on $1.5 million bail in Hartford.
Other details of Hernandez’ past began to emerge Wednesday night, including a 2009 photo obtained by TMZ showing Hernandez posing with a gun in front of a mirror.
This morning Boston’s FOX affiliate is reporting that Hernandez is being investigated for possible ties to a Boston double-homicide that happened July 16, 2012.
That night, three men were shot sitting at a traffic light after leaving a bar downtown. Two of them, Safiro Furtado and Daniel Abreu, died. It happened just after 2 a.m., according to the report.
Hernandez is being sued by a Florida man who claims the 23-year-old former University of Florida star shot him in the face outside a Miami strip club, also first reported by TMZ.Hernandez Due Back in Court Today by Jenna Laine
