The 2014 draft is a couple of months away and there have been plenty of predictions, projections, and assumptions regarding who will go where and in which round. But, what about next year? The class of 2015 is loaded with athletic players so why not predict what happens with them?
The National Champions Florida State Seminoles plan to continue their reign in the 2014 season. Let’s take a look at players in Tallahassee who could enter the NFL Draft in 2015.
The 2013 Heisman winner has told media that per his conversations with head coach Jimbo Fisher, he will stay for two more years. I sincerely doubt that he will stay with the Seminoles when he could get paid to do what he does best.
If he enters the 2015 draft, some analysts suggest he might sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because of Mike Glennon’s recent struggle. This could be possible, only if the Bucs do not sign a new QB before Winston’s era with the Seminoles is over. Rumors suggest that Lovie Smith will give Glennon another shot in 2014, but if he fails, Winston could be the man for the job.
This solid OT had a great year at FSU this past season and in 2015, it’s likely for him to go to the Atlanta Falcons. The current situation in Atlanta is flaky because of Sam Baker’s inconsistency. It’s possible that the Falcons give Baker one more year to redeem himself, but regardless, they could use a player like Erving.
If this experienced corner decides to enter the draft as a junior, he will definitely be a threat in the NFL. Darby has a knack for finding the ball and he was the only freshman defensive player to appear in double digit games.
In 2015, the Pittsburgh Steelers could really use a fresh new face in the cornerback position. This year, the Steelers could pick up a tight end like Eric Ebron.
Another Florida State CB is also up for the possibility of entering the draft as a junior in 2015. Williams is a versatile d-back that can play corner or safety. He has exquisite ball skills that make him an asset on special teams. He is rumored to get more time in the rotation at corner for FSU, come fall.
As for NFL teams that could be interested in his skills, the New York Giants seem to be a viable possibility. The Giants are in need of a better CB option and if they don’t land a replacement in May, be on the lookout for Williams to be selected to play for New York.
