A Look Ahead: 2015 Draft Prospects in Florida
The 2014 NFL Draft may have just ended but that doesn’t mean we can’t look ahead to predict the bright futures of Florida college football players.
Here’s a look at the players in the state of Florida who could potentially be top draft picks in 2015.
- Florida State DE Mario Edwards Jr.
Edwards has the body and the playing style to play defensive end professionally. He will be a junior during the 2014 season but it’s possible for him to go in the first round, should he declare for the draft.
- Miami RB Duke Johnson
It’s likely that Johnson will skip out on his senior season. If he does, he will really have to show off in 2014 since the number of running backs taken in the draft keep dropping. Remember, no running backs were selected in the first round of the 2014 draft.
- Florida State CB P.J. Williams
He really proved himself this spring and according to ESPN, he will most likely compete with his teammate, Ronald Darby, in the draft.
- Florida Gators DE/LB Dante Fowler Jr.
He led the team in tackles last season and he is already listed among the top prospects on many (way too early) 2015 mock drafts. He will need to work on staying consistent in 2014 if he wants to keep his name at the top.
- Florida State QB Jameis Winston
He’s most definitely a first-round pick, which means all eyes will be on him and the Seminoles in 2014. He will need to mature a bit before he can succeed in the league, but he is the early favorite for the No. 1 pick in 2015, per ESPN.
Other top players predicted to be selected in the first round include Miami’s Denzel Perryman, Florida State’s Tre Jackson, Cameron Erving, and Nick O’Leary.A Look Ahead: 2015 Draft Prospects in Florida by Amanda Borges
