49ers Trade For WR Steve Johnson
The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have agreed to a trade with the Buffalo Bills. The 49ers will acquire WR Stevie Johnson for an undisclosed 2015 draft choice. Johnson must pass a physical for the trade to be executed.
Johnson (6-2, 207) was originally selected by the Buffalo Bills in the seventh round (224th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. He has played in 75 games (58 starts) and has tallied 301 receptions for 3,832 yards and 28 touchdowns. Johnson became the first player in Bills history to register consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons, reaching that milestone in three straight years (1,073 in 2010; 1,004 in 2011; 1,046 in 2013). In 2013, he started all 12 games in which he appeared and notched 52 receptions for 597 yards and three touchdowns.
A native of Fairfield, CA, Johnson attended the University of Kentucky, where he played in 26 games and registered 73 receptions for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns. As a senior, earned First-Team All-SEC honors as he became just the fourth player in school history to surpass 1,000 yards receiving in a single season (1,052).
