49ers cornerback Tarell Brown suffered a rib injury during last Sunday’s victory over the Saints that was serious enough to force him to spend the night in New Orleans and fly back to San Francisco on Monday.
On Thursday, coach Jim Harbaugh said at his press conference that the team does not believe Brown’s injury is severe enough to end his season although he expects that it will “take a little time” before he’s able to return to the lineup.
Harbaugh didn’t get specific about Brown’s diagnosis, but did say that word of cracked ribs that was reported earlier in the week didn’t hit the nail on the head.
With Brown apparently out for Monday night’s game against the Redskins, Tramaine Brock will step into a larger role across from Carlos Rogers.
