Posted By David Gaulman On October 20, 2013 @ 12:58 PM In NBA | No Comments

With the 2013-14 NBA season upon us I sat down and evaluated the leagues talent and put together my top 25 players. With the return of Derrick Rose, the comeback of Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant ready to prove he’s no number two, this year sure will have its story lines. ENJOY!

#25 Dirk Nowitzki;
Dallas Mavericks|PF| Age: 35
2012-13 Stats
GM PPG RPG APG FG% FT% PER
53 17.3 6.8 2.5 .471 .860 19.88

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has made it clear he wont move his future hall of fame forward. This is not the Nowitzki from 2011 but he is still one of the most talented players in the NBA and has a little left in the tank.
FACT: Dirk is one of three players in NBA history with 25,000 career points, including 1,000 3-pointers. The other two are Reggie Miller and Kobe Bryant.

#24 Josh Smith;
Detroit Pistons|SF| Age: 27
2012-13 Stats
GM PPG RPG APG FG% FT% PER
75 17.5 8.4 4.2 4.65 .517 17.82

The Pistons acquired Smith in hopes to return their team to the playoffs. He will need to work on his free-throw percentage and long range shooting if he wants to continue to get better.
FACT: Smith is one of three players with career averages of at least 15 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks per game.

#23 Paul George;
Indiana Pacers|SG| Age: 23
2012-13 Stats
GM PPG RPG APG FG% FT% PER
79 17.4 7.6 4.1 .419 .807 16.84

George was one of the brightest young players last season. However, it was his performance in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat that put the 23-year old guard on the map. Indiana will get Danny Granger back from injury which will give George less touches, meaning he will have to play with better efficiency.
FACT: George led the NBA with 6.3 defensive win shares last season. Defensive win shares estimate how many wins a player contributes to his team through his defense.

#22 John Wall;
Washington Wizards|PG| Age: 23
2012-13 Stats
GM PPG RPG APG FG% FT% PER
49 18.5 4.0 7.6 .441 .804 20.91

Now that Wall has signed the 5-year $80 million extension its time for him to showcase that he is a franchise player. He will have to elevate the play of his teammates, something he has not shown to this point. The maturation process for Wall this season will play a major roll into the success of the Wizards.
FACT: Wall was one of three players to average at least 18 points and 7.5 assists per game last season.

#21 Deron Williams;
Brooklyn Nets|PG| Age: 29
2012-13 Stats
GM PPG RPG APG FG% FT% PER
78 18.9 3.0 7.7 .440 .859 20.38

With the additions of Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, Williams is in position to make a deep playoff run. The Nets have one of the best rosters in the NBA but it will be up to Williams to orchestrate the egos on the floor.
FACT: Williams is one of nine players in NBA history to have averaged 18 points and 7.5 assists in at least six different seasons.
