After a successful 2012 season which saw the Florida State football program rack up 12 wins, an ACC title and an Orange Bowl victory, the Noles are back at it once again with the kickoff of 2013 spring practice. Over the next two weeks, we’ll take a look at the spring edition of the FSU Seminole football squad.
Here is a quick look at the breakdown of positions by day leading up to the 2013 FSU Garnet and Gold Game on Saturday, April 13 in Tallahassee.
Tuesday – April 2 – Offensive Line
The Noles are experienced and talented up front, but a lack of depth here could be an issue during the grind of the regular season.
Wednesday – April 3 – Running Backs
2012 senior leaders Chris Thompson and Lonnie Pryor will be missed, but thankfully James Wilder Jr. and Devonta Freeman return to tote the rock. Sprinkle in the addition of explosive redshirt freshman speedster Mario Pender and the Noles have a three-headed monster.
Friday – April 5 – Receivers/Tight Ends
The strongest unit on the offensive side of the ball, the receiving and tight end group is filled with playmakers. The only question here is – who will throw them the ball?
WEEK 2 – Defense/Special Teams/Coaching
Tuesday – April 9 – Defensive Line
How will the Noles replace pass rushing monsters Bjoern Werner, Tank Carradine and Brandon Jenkins in the trenches?
Wednesday – April 10 – Linebackers
Senior Christian Jones returns to lead a young but ultra talented group of speedsters and heavy hitters.
Thursday – April 11 – Defensive Backs
Quite possibly the strongest unit of the Seminole defense. From cornerback to safety, the secondary is filled with ball hawks and head hunters, and looks poised to dominate in 2013.
**Friday – April 12 – Quarterbacks** (Saving The Best For Last)
The biggest question mark heading into spring camp has to be the quarterback position. Who will replace EJ Manuel and lead the Noles into the future? The battle between redshirt junior Clint Trickett, redshirt sophomore Jacob Coker and redshirt freshman Jameis Winston will be a fun one to watch this spring.
Saturday – April 13 – 2013 FSU Garnet and Gold Spring Game
Doak S. Campbell Stadium (2pm – ESPN3/WatchESPN)
